West Ryde Optometrist Tom Geroulas is taking part in the World Sight Day Challenge in October to give the gift of vision to people who don’t have access to an eye exam or glasses. Now in its 12th year, this is the largest annual global fundraising campaign to address avoidable blindness caused by the simple need for eye care and glasses.
On World Sight Day, October 11, Tom will be supporting the global charity Optometry Giving Sight by donating all his eye exam fees to help the 1.22 billion people in underprivileged communities who are unnecessarily blind or vision impaired. Just by getting your eyes tested you will be helping to support this worthy cause.
Preventable blindness is a solvable problem, and a little as $5 is all it takes to provide a person in need with an eye exam and a pair of glasses that may transform their life.
Everyone can make a huge difference and taking part is easy, simply come along and make a small donation before the end of October. The campaign’s goal is to raise one million dollars in 2018.
Optometry Giving Sight is involved many projects delivering basic eye care in Australia, South East Asia, India, Africa and Central America. For further information, call Tom Geroulas on 98046896.
